FAQ - MEDER Beauty Science

What is the meaning of numbers on Meder Beauty bottles?

Numbers on the packaging indicate the order of application. Cleansers are marked with number 1, meaning they should always be applied first. Face creams, on the other hand, are all numbered 7, which means that they complete your daily skin care routine.

Can I use Meder Beauty cleansers to remove makeup?

Both Meder Beauty cleansers are suitable for the removal of light daytime makeup without too many bright pigments and stable polymers. If you are using thick foundations and tones, or prefer long-lasting and water-resistant makeup, perhaps it would be better to choose a makeup remover. Professional solutions best remove professional makeup.

How do I choose the right cleanser for me?

It is very simple: if you have sensitive skin, choose Net-Apax Gel. In all other cases, Nrj-Net Cream is the cleanser for you.

Do you have cleansers for ageing skin?

No, we divide cleansers by skin sensitivity, because they affect the skin’s capillary and immune systems first and foremost.

Do you have a brightening cleanser?

For skin brightening, we recommend Nrj-Net Cream with active form of vitamin B3, niacinamide, which has a brightening effect without increasing the skin’s sensitivity to UV rays.

My skin is all red after washing my face with Nrj-Net Cream. Is it normal?

This is normal; we call it the reviving effect. NrjNet Cream contains niacinamide, an active form of vitamin B3, which affects the smallest capillaries and quickly activates blood circulation, improving the skin’s health. If you’d like to reduce the redness, apply Nrj-Net Cream to wet skin. If you’d instead increase the impact, apply Nrj-Net Cream to dry skin, massage for a little while and leave on for a few minutes like a mask.

Do I need to use the cleanser in the morning? Yes, of course. Your skin remains active during the night, ridding itself from dead cells and synthesising sebum. Your skin is in contact with the bedding all night, and the cloth microparticles are left on the surface of the keratinous layer. A morning face cleanse is essential.

Which cleanser is better after laser resurfacing/chemical peel?

We recommend Net-Apax Gel after any skin injury, including surgery. Net-Apax Gel cleanses the skin gently, maintaining and restoring the skin’s natural protective mantle, and has a soothing and anti-inflammatory effect.

What’s the right way to use Enzy-Peel Mask?

We call this mask Enzy-Peel because the exfoliation is performed by enzymes-probiotics able to dissolve dead cells and keratinous layer proteins. First, apply a small amount of Enzy-Peel (around one teaspoon) and spread it on the face, neck and décolleté. Enzymes like warm and wet environment, so it is best to do peeling in a small humid place, like a bathroom after you’ve just had a shower. If it is not possible, there’s a tip: you can use a plastic shower cap. Cut in small holes for eyes and nose and put the cap on your face after applying Enzy-Peel Mask. After 5–10 minutes, wash your hands with warm water and massage your face, neck and décolleté with warm wet fingers for a couple of minutes. Rinse off the mask with cool water and see how fresh your renewed skin looks.

Can I use Enzy-Peel Mask every day?

No, we do not recommend exfoliation more than once or twice a week. It is more than enough to renew and normalise the skin.

I have sensitive skin. Can I use Enzy-Peel Mask?

You most certainly can. Sensitive skin needs exfoliation, too. However, for sensitive skin, we would recommend skipping the massage. Apply Enzy-Peel as an exfoliating mask, wait for 5-10 minutes and rinse it off with cool water. Enzyme exfoliation works best in a warm and humid environment.

I have acne. Can I use EnzyPeel Mask?

Yes, you can. Problem skin with acne requires regular exfoliation. Use Enzy-Peel Mask on your face, but don’t massage over the inflamed areas. Enzyme exfoliation works best in a warm and humid environment.

When can I start using EnzyPeel Mask if I had laser resurfacing?

With laser treatments, a lot depends on the goals and methods of impact. If you had a non-ablative treatment, that is you have no scabs, you can start exfoliating with Enzy-Peel in 3–4 weeks after the treatment. If the treatment was ablative, it would be best to wait 8–10 weeks after the shedding of scabs.

Can I use Enzy-Peel Mask during a course of Roaccutane (Isotretinoin)?

One of Roaccutane’s effects is the acceleration of epidermal renewal, so there is no need in extra exfoliation. It can even be unsafe because, in the course of Roaccutane therapy, many patients develop retinoid dermatitis, rendering even a micro-injury dangerous. You can go back to enzyme exfoliation no earlier than 8–10 weeks after you’ve finished taking Roaccutane.

Do I need to use Enzy-Peel Mask if I’m already using acid or retinol-based skincare?

No, it is not necessary. Both acid and retinol accelerate natural skin renewal. You can go back to enzyme exfoliation with Enzy-Peel Mask 2–3 weeks after you’ve finished the course of your retinol or acid-based solutions (they are generally recommended for limited-time active therapy, not for continued use).

Can teenagers use Enzy-Peel Mask? Yes, they can.

Why don’t you have toners in your range?

We see no need to apply toning water solutions. Meder Beauty serums effectively substitute tonics/toners with their stimulating and moisturising effect.

Is it necessary to use serums?

We strongly recommend using a serum as part of your daily skin care routine. Meder Beauty serums stimulate the capillaries maintaining the skin’s health. They moisturise, soften and smooth out the skin, energising and firming it up.

How do I choose the right serum for me?

Very easy: if your skin is sensitive, you need Soin-Apax Serum, in all other cases choose NrjSoin Serum.

What’s the right way to combine cleanser and serum?

We recommend using cleanser and serum from the same range: Net-Apax Gel + Soin-Apax Serum for sensitive skin, and Nrj-Net Cream + Nrj-Soin Serum in all other cases.

Which serum is better for skin brightening?

Nrj-Soin Serum has a more pronounced brightening effect. However, increased skin sensitivity in itself can affect pigmentation. In this case, we would advise soothing sensitive skin with the combination of Net-Apax Gel + SoinApax Serum and after 2–3 months proceed to therapy aimed at skin brightening and evening out the complexion.

When I apply Nrj-Soin Serum, my skin tingles. Is this normal?

Yes, light tingling is a normal reaction. Nrj-Soin Serum contains a high concentration of low molecular active ingredients, most of which have antioxidant properties and can quickly penetrate into the deeper skin layers forming a shield against free radicals and other toxic agents. The antioxidant cocktail saturates the skin with such speed and intensity, it that causes a bit of tingling which is, however, sure to pass in less than a minute.

Which serum is better for couperose and skin redness?

We recommend daily use of Soin-Apax Serum which contains a high concentration of Centella Asiatica extract. The active ingredients of Centella extract, asiaticoside and madecassoside stimulate and strengthen the capillaries reducing redness and evening out the complexion.

What should I use to ease the hot flushes when going through menopause?

In this case, we recommend starting with the combination of Net-Apax Gel and Soin-Apax Serum, both of which soothe the skin and reduce the severity of skin reactions to naturally occurring hormonal changes.

How do I choose the right Meder Beauty concentrate for me?

Please ask your beauty therapist for advice. If one isn’t available to you, try to analyse your skin concerns yourself and choose accordingly. Most basic guidelines would be as follows. Frown lines on the forehead, around eyes and mouth: Myo-Fix Concentrate. Acne, oily and problem skin: Eu-Seb Concentrate. Double chin, puffy face, bags under eyes, dull greyish or blotchy complexion: Lipo-Oval Concentrate. Dry skin, dull complexion, tired and stressed look: Hydra-Fill Concentrate. Ageing, mature skin with fine lines: Arma-Lift Concentrate. Please keep in mind, however, that only an aesthetic professional can diagnose your skin condition with accuracy and seek advice whenever possible.

What are the concentrates for?

The Concentrate has a higher concentration of active ingredients than a regular skincare solution, which is why it has a more intense effect. We recommend concentrates for active aesthetic correction of specific skin problems, e.g. expression lines or acne.

Do I need to use concentrates constantly?

No, we only recommend applying concentrates during an active correction course. A standard course is 10 weeks of application, and in the first 5 weeks, we would advise applying your Concentrate twice a day, morning and night, whereas in the following 5 weeks once a day, at your convenience, would suffice.

What’s the correct way to use Myo-Fix Concentrate?

Myo-Fix Concentrate is recommended for the correction of expression lines on the forehead, crow’s feet in the corners of the eyes and crease between the eyebrows. It is very important to apply Myo-Fix Concentrate to cleansed and prepared skin (use cleanser and serum every time before Concentrate!). Apply a small amount of Concentrate directly to the wrinkles and rub it in with a cotton stick. Do not use any retinol or AHA acid-based solutions at the same time with Myo-Fix Concentrate!

Does Myo-Fix Concentrate paralyse facial muscles or just the skin?

Myo-Fix Concentrate contains peptides which gradually immobilise the parts of facial muscles that are intertwined with the skin. As a result, muscles can’t fully contract and remains relaxed, making expression lines less pronounced. We do not apply the term ‘muscle paralysis’ to this effect, as, unlike botulinum toxin, Myo-Fix Concentrate preserves the muscle’s partial mobility. A more relaxed muscle is slower to react to various stimuli, and the skin tends to crease much less.

After using Myo-Fix Concentrate for a couple of weeks, my skin started to feel numb. Is it normal?

Yes, this is perfectly normal. As peptides work on the muscle fibres intertwined with the skin, you may experience a somewhat strained sensation and be less able to move your facial muscles in the areas where you applied Concentrate. This can be accompanied by slight numbness which will pass when you finish your active course of Myo-Fix. Usually this occurs after 4 or 5 weeks of using the Concentrate, sometimes a bit earlier if your skin is more sensitive than normal.

Can I use Myo-Fix Concentrate during pregnancy and lactation?

Yes, of course. As with many other cosmetic skincare, Myo-Fix Concentrate does not penetrate deeper than the relatively surface skin layers. Myo-Fix Concentrate does not have a systemic effect on your body or the unborn baby, nor can it get into the breast milk.

Can I use Myo-Fix if I’ve previously had botulinum toxin injections?

Yes, you can. Myo-Fix Concentrate will help maintain the effect longer and avoid the complete restoration of facial movement in the active correction area. We recommend starting the application of Myo-Fix Concentrate 16-18 weeks after the injections by a standard scheme (5 weeks twice a day, morning and night, and another 5 weeks once a day). What are masks for? Concentrates and masks have different formulations, but they complement each other. The mask has such a substantial effect on the skin that we recommend using them no more than once or twice a week. The masks are aimed at enhancing and maintaining the effect of active aesthetic correction with concentrates and other solutions. Is Myo-Fix Mask different from Myo-Fix Concentrate, or are they both just different ways to apply the same preparation? Myo-Fix Concentrate and Myo-Fix Mask have different formulation and different effect on the skin. Unlike the Concentrate, Myo-Fix Mask does not immobilise the facial muscles, but instead, it reduces the muscles’ sensitivity to negative stimuli and enhances the synthesis of the skin’s structural elements. The skin becomes firmer and wrinkles less deep. The primary effect of Myo-Fix Mask can be described as a serene face; you can use it to help correct expression lines and to acquire a relaxed, untroubled look.

Are there any limitations to using Myo-Fix Concentrate?

Just one. During the course of Myo-Fix Concentrate application, we strongly recommend giving up all cosmetic solutions with AHA acids and retinol derivatives. The peptides we use for the skin immobilising effect are very fragile and can be easily destroyed by the active molecules, such as acids and retinol.

What is the correct way to use Eu-Seb Concentrate?

Eu-Seb Concentrate contains prebiotic BioEcolia®, highly beneficial for the skin’s microbiome. We recommend applying Eu-Seb Concentrate daily to the skin of your whole face and neck, not just on the particularly inflamed areas.

Are there any limitations to using Eu-Seb Concentrate?

During the course of Eu-Seb Concentrate application, we strongly recommend giving up all cosmetic solutions with AHA acids and retinol derivatives. We would also urge you to stop using local antibiotics and other anti-bacterial and antiseptic agents, including various alcohol solutions and cosmetics with alcohol, triclosan or chlorhexidine for the whole duration of Eu-Seb therapy. Prebiotics in Eu-Seb Concentrate restores the healthy skin microflora, whereas, unfortunately, all of the above destroy both harmful and beneficial bacteria.

What’s the correct way to use Lipo-Oval Concentrate?

Lipo-Oval Concentrate helps reduce facial fat depot and bring down the puffiness. We recommend applying Lipo-Oval Concentrate daily to the clean skin of face and neck, paying special attention to the area’s most prone to swelling and depositing fat. As ordinarily, forehead and temple zone doesn’t retain excess liquid or fat, you don’t need to apply the Concentrate there if you don’t want to.

Are there any limitations to using Lipo-Oval Concentrate?

No. The active ingredients of Lipo-Oval Concentrate are stable enough and don’t require excluding any particular agents from your skin care routine. As always, for best results, we recommend adopting essential Meder Beauty Science routine.

Will Lipo-Oval Concentrate help me get rid of a double chin?

Lipo-Oval Concentrate reduces facial fat depots and facial puffiness. However, if the problem is severe, we’d recommend seeking advice from a professional beauty therapist and opting for a course of professional Lipo-Oval Treatment, maybe even combined with machine methods. Lipo-Oval Concentrate and Mask can be used at home during the active course. If you have some localised facial puffiness or only a slight double chin, we would venture to say Lipo-Oval Concentrate should be able to help.

What’s the correct way to use Arma-Lift Concentrate?

Arma-Lift Concentrate is designed to firm up the skin and fight age-related changes. We recommend applying Arma-Lift Concentrate to the clean skin of face and neck daily, morning and night. You can even apply it to the eyelids to reduce the signs of ageing and stress.

Are there any limitations to using Arma-Lift Concentrate?

No. The active ingredients of Arma-Lift Concentrate are stable enough and don’t require excluding any particular agents from your skin care routine. As always, for best results, we recommend adopting essential Meder Beauty Science routine.

What’s the correct way to use Hydra-Fill Concentrate?

We recommend applying Hydra-Fill Concentrate to the clean skin of face and neck, avoiding eye area. The key ingredients of Hydra-Fill Concentrate instantly retains water in the skin and restore its moisture levels; however, in the eye area this effect may lead to swelling.

Are there any limitations to using Hydra-Fill Concentrate?

No. The active ingredients of Hydra-Fill Concentrate are stable enough and don’t require excluding any particular agents from your skin care routine. As always, for best results, we recommend adopting essential Meder Beauty Science routine.

My skin feels all tight when I use Hydra-Fill Concentrate. Is this normal?

The reason you may experience this sensation is as follows. The key active ingredient of Hydra-Fill Concentrate is hyaluronic acid which helps draw and retain water in the surface layers of the skin. However, if the air around you is overly dry (air conditioner, anyone?), hyaluronic acid and all moisturisers of the similar effect, cannot retain water and starts to evaporate creating a thin layer on the skin surface to stop water from draining in the deep skin layers. This effect actually helps the skin remain moisturised in the dry climate, but it can be somewhat uncomfortable. To stop this from happening you can apply Hydra-Fill Concentrate in the most humid environment you can comfortably create, like a bathroom after you’ve just taken a shower. After applying the Concentrate, seal it in with a day cream to help your skin remain moisturised through the day.

Do Eu-Seb Concentrate and EuSeb Mask have the same effect? Eu-Seb Mask has an anti-inflammatory and soothing effect, reduces sebum production and keeps the skin matte for several days after use. Eu-Seb concentrate contains prebiotics restoring the healthy skin microflora. Basically, it means displacing and decreasing the activity of pathogenic bacteria which cause acne and inflammation and at the same time promoting the active growth of beneficial bacteria which, in their turn, restore the skin’s natural protection. Eu-Seb Mask creates a perfect medium for the development of healthy microbiome, enhancing the effect of Eu-Seb Concentrate to the max. This doesn’t mean that one won’t work without the other, but together they certainly have maximum effect on the skin.

Do Lipo-Oval Concentrate, and Lipo-Oval Mask have the same effect?

Lipo-Oval Mask has an active draining effect helping remove excessive liquid from facial soft tissue and strengthen the capillary system. LipoOval Concentrate has a more pronounced fatsplitting action which is enhanced to its full potential by the mask. We recommend combining Concentrate and mask for best results. This doesn’t mean that one won’t work without the other, but together they certainly have maximum effect on the skin.

Does Arma-Lift Mask have the same effect as Arma-Lift Concentrate?

Arma-Lift Mask contains growth factors, molecules which enhance and optimise the synthesis of the skin’s structural elements, skin regeneration and renewal, at the same time preventing age-related changes in the skin. Growth factors are relatively large molecules, so we added to the mask’s formula specific agents ensuring their penetration into the skin, plus some brightening and stimulating ingredients. Arma-Lift Concentrate affects various skin structures, helping the cells withstand the attack of free radicals, suppressing age-related inflammation and restoring the skin’s resilience. We recommend using Concentrate and mask in combination. This doesn’t mean that one won’t work without the other, but together they certainly have maximum effect on the skin.

Does Hydra-Fill Mask have the same effect as Hydra-Fill Concentrate?

As we use hyaluronic acid of different molecular weights in Hydra-Fill Concentrate and Mask, they affect the skin differently. Hydra-Fill Concentrate has a more pronounced stimulating effect, restoring the synthesis of the agents and substances which enhance the skin’s moisturising. Hydra-Fill Mask, on the other hand, has a more calming effect, brightens the skin and instantly smooths it out with the glowing effect lasting for several days. After using the mask, the skin’s condition allows for a stronger effect of the Concentrate’s active molecules. We recommend using Concentrate and mask in combination. This doesn’t mean that one won’t work without the other, but together they certainly have maximum effect on the skin.

At what age can I start using Blepharo-Light Cream?

Like all our 6th Element solutions, Blepharo-Light Eye Cream can be used by anyone at any age. It prevents microcirculation disturbances in the eye area, putting off the appearance of first wrinkles, dark circles and bags under eyes. Swift and pleasant relief for puffy eyes are good for any age group, we’d say.

Is it necessary to use Derma-Fill Cream daily?

Derma-Fill Cream moisturises and maintains the skin’s health, while also protecting the skin from air pollution. Therefore, if you live in a highly polluted area or if your skin often gets very dry, we’d recommend using Derma-Fill Cream daily, before your face cream. However, there’s no reason why you can’t use it from time to time, for example, during a stressful time in your life or before a long flight.

What’s the correct way to use Vita-Long Oil?

We recommend applying Vita-Long Oil to clean skin AFTER your cleanser, serum, concentrate and mask (if you’re using those), as the number 6 on the packaging suggests. Open the tube and apply a small amount of oil drop after drop to face, neck and décolleté. Follow with your day cream if desired.

Can I use Vita-Long Oil if I have oily skin?

Sure. As all other 6th Element solutions, Vita-Long Oil is universal and can be used for all skin types. If your skin is oily, you’d probably feel more comfortable applying an even smaller amount of Vita-Long Oil than we usually recommend (which is just a few drops anyway) or only once a day. Vita-Long is an oil-based product, but it actually normalises the activity of sebaceous glands, tightens pores and helps restore the skin’s barrier function.

What is the correct way to store Vita-Long Oil?

Always close the tube after use. When you first open the tube, twist off the small cap on top, then turn it upside down and reseal the tube. Don’t store the tubes in the open sun and don’t let them get warm.

Which Meder Beauty Science face cream is right for me?

We recommend choosing the Cream by your skin type, i.e. the level of sebum production. For dry skin, Arma-Derm Cream is best, and it’ll quickly restore the feeling of comfort and softness. Oily skin needs Equa-Derm Cream: it reduces the sebum production by 30% in the first few weeks, helps conquer inflammation and tightens pores. Finally, if you have normal skin or sensitive skin without any signs of oiliness or dryness, we recommend Salva-Derm Cream to prevent age-related changes, moisturise and calm the skin.

I have combination skin, which Cream should I choose?

If you have oily skin in T-zone and normal skin in the other areas of the face, we’d recommend using Equa-Derm Cream in the morning to normalise the sebum production, and Salva-Derm Cream in the evening to keep the skin calm and matte without overcorrecting the activity of sebaceous glands.

Do I need to apply face cream before my sunscreen?

If you’re planning a beach vacation or live in a hot climate, you can opt for one of the 6th Element solutions followed by your sun cream and use face cream once a day before bed.

Can I use my face cream on the neck for anti-age effect?

You certainly can, it is absolutely fine. You can apply to your neck the same skincare you use on your face. However, we have in our range a more effective solution created especially for the skin on the neck. Arma-Neck Cream makes the skin on the neck softer and more elastic and can even reduce the negative consequences of excessive suntan in the past.

Can I use Arma-Bust Cream during pregnancy?

Yes, of course. Arma-Bust Cream will help prevent stretch marks and preserve the skin’s elasticity during pregnancy.

Can I use Arma-Bust Cream while breastfeeding? We’d recommend starting the use of Arma-Bust Cream when the gaps between your baby’s feedings become long enough for you to have the time to remove the residual Cream from your nipples. Even the best Cream is not the right food for a baby. Otherwise, there are no limitations.
