WHAT IS DERMAPLANING?
Dermaplaning is a skincare treatment that manually scrapes away the uppermost layer of dead skin & “Peach Fuzz”, leaving your skin impeccably smooth. The procedure is painless & involves the use of a sterile butter-blade scalpel (ie. gentle upward motions at a 45 degree angle), done on clean-taut skin.
By removing “Peach Fuzz” and dead skin cells, it smooths the surface of the skin and speeds cell turn-over, leading to a fresher, brighter, prettier complexion. Regular Dermaplaning (aka. physical exfoliation) will help clear dead skin cells and “Peach Fuzz”, allowing skincare products to work more efficiently, and makeup to apply smoothly.
You are not a suitable candidate for Dermaplaning if you have:
- Pustular Acne/Currently Inflamed Acne Lesions/Prone to Breakouts
- Cold Sores (Active)
- Facial Eczema/Rosacea
- On Acne Medication/Prescription Retinol/Isotretinoin
WHAT DOES THE TREATMENT INVOLVE?
The Procedure is performed only following a thorough medical consultation, to determine the client’s concern and suitability for the treatment. During the procedure, the skin is cleansed and prepped with an AHA/BHA toner. This is followed by multiple passes of short, gentle feathery strokes done on the face with the butter blade to remove dead skin and “Peach Fuzz”. The treatment is completed with a tailored treatment to suit each individual skin.
The Entire procedure takes approximately 45-60 minutes to perform.
WHAT KIND OF RESULTS CAN I EXPECT?
Generally, there is no downtime associated with Dermaplaning. After the treatment, your skin will be sensitive to sun exposure and may look slightly pink/flushed, so be sure to apply a broad spectrum sunscreen with SPF30 or higher to reduce risk of hyperpigmentation.
You will immediately look more radiant with a more even skin tone & texture. All your “Peach Fuzz” will be gone, which is why first-timers say their skin has never felt so soft before. As with any exfoliation treatment, the best results of Dermaplaning will be achieved after a series of treatments (3-4 weekly apart). Many women are often concern that shaving their “Peach Fuzz” will make it grow back heavier and darker, but that’s actually not the case. Superficial vellus hair (Peach Fuzz) will grow back at the same rate & same texture as it was before the treatment.
